Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project is to improve the conditions for circular rock and soil management by giving more officials in the municipal planning process access to information about how the mass balance of soil and rock materials as a result of planned construction in a municipality´s geographical area will look like over a multi-year period of time. The goal is to explore different business model ideas that use digitalization to scale up the benefits of mass balance forecasts, and then identify a business model among those that have the potential to become financially sustainable.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to result in an identified business idea that utilizes the possibilities of digitalisation to scale up the benefit of mass balance forecasts to more customers, and that has potential to be financially sustainable. By extension, the effect is that more municipalities gain access to information about rock and soil management, so that they can make strategies that facilitate circular handling of rock and soil materials.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is carried out in four sub-activities: 1. Based on a strategic analysis of digital support for municipalities, possible business models are identified. 2. The business models are evaluated using a "business model canvas" and description of the pricing. The most interesting models are presented to the board of directors and management. 3. Important cooperation partners are contacted, and possible forms of cooperation are identified. 4. A proposal for a business model for further development is described, including a description of the customer offer.
