Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to develop and evalute a robust, flexible and fast aluminium scrap classification system to support a more environmental friendly production of aluminium. It was also to establish a long-term partnership between Swedish and Chinese key actors within the aluminium recycling industry.
Expected long term effects
The project has resulted in prototype, consisting of new hardware and software, that has been tested in industrial conditions. The prototype has been evaluted for several different applications of aluminium scrap feed, specified by industry. Moreover, the collaboration has resulted in a good knowledge exchange between industry and reserachers and the establishment of relationship between Swedish academia and Chinese industrial partners.
Approach and implementation
The project was has been a close collaboration between recycling industry, consultants and researchers, where physical meetings has been of importance for smooth and effective performance. Visits to several production sites in China and Sweden as well as field tests has been of major importance in the planning and evaluation.
