Important results from the project

The purpose of the project was to organize a course in biomedical innovation. The aim was also to revise the course, based on the course evaluation from previous year, for example by using real cases throughout the course and inviting entrepreneurs who could inspire the course participants "winning stories" about with successful innovations, and by increasing the discussion around patents versus research publications. The revisions were conducted and the course was the given in the end of the year as planned.

Expected long term effects

A 4-day course was given, with the aimto increase the knowledge about the innovation and entrepreneurship process within biomedical engineering, in order to facilitate collaborations and increase the possibility for successful project outcomes. 36 persons applied wherof 20 participated. Theparticipants were evenly distributed geographically, professionally (physicians, nurses, engineers, entrepreneurs, business coaches, researchers participated) and also with regard to gender. The course was rated 4.4 of 5.0 in the course evaluation.

Approach and implementation

A revised course plan was developed by the project group in collabaration with the national education group. The course was set up as four corse days, where each day had a unique theme and a unique teacher´s panel. The detailed planning of each course day was done by the project group together with the invited teachers. Participants were invited nationally. Criteria was set so that projects with funding from MedTech4Health were prioritized. Also a heterogeneous mix was sought geographically and professionally to promote networking and valuable discussions between the participants.
