Important results from the project

Innovation in Boliden’s mines is driven in collaboration with our innovation partners and data is getting more and more important. If data is not handled properly there is risk that data is for example shared within the partner ecosystem violating trust in Boliden as a host for innovation. The goal of the project is to 1) setup a secured way of sharing data and 2) enable faster data provisioning 3) be ready for increased need for data

Expected long term effects

During the course of the project, the platform and an attribute-based security concept have been implemented with the support of our project partners. Relevant data to protect is for example sensitive prototype data from our partners and production data that give an indication of the company´s market value before quarterly reports are released. The data sharing has been shortened considerably and the solution is now in continuous improvement. The security concept can be used in a broader form also for other areas, which we will investigated.

Approach and implementation

The implementation has been done with a small internal team and external support. LTU has contributed with the exploration of security concepts such as Next Generation Access Control (NGAC) and Digital twin as a proxy. The EU project has coordinated among other things the requirements management, improvement and standardization of the engineering process and verification of objectives. Knowledge has been shared even beyond the scope of the project and the project has not only been a success for Boliden, but also an important step for OT digitization in Europe.
