Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The aim is to create a trading platform that promotes cost-effective trades based on ecological natural values and nature-based climate solutions. The most important goals are to establish a standard and system support for the business model. Companies will be able to strengthen their brands by "Eco-comping" and landowners have an alternative return on their land management. Ecocomp has taken big steps towards these objectives by developing and testing the business model, calculation models and mechanisms for credibility in step 2.
Expected long term effects
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** A model for a trading platform has been developed where landowners should be able to sell biodiversity credits and carbon credits to buyers in a cost-effective and credible way. To measure biological diversity, a new unit called nature value equivalent (NVe) is proposed. The definition of natural value equivalents can contribute to creating common concepts in nationally/internationally adopted standards in the same way as for the calculation of CO2 equivalents and lay the foundation for a certification system in a growing market.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project has expertise in economics, biology, climate compensation, real estate development and land management that cover all steps in EcoComp´s future business. The leaders of the eight work packages have coordinated the development of the trading platform, definitions, calculation models and system support. The project has offered many meetings with the opportunity to discuss and delve into various aspects of the business model where pilots and reference actors had an important role for tests and knowledge building.
