Important results from the project
The purpose was to assess the feasibility regarding a digital education platform on nutrition in order to increase knowledge amongst people with diabetes. Interviews and surveys verified that one of the biggest pain points for people with diabetes is that the education they receive about food is at a too theoretical level. The project demonstrated good feasibility for: 1) a digital platform on evidence based nutrition aimed towards this target group; and 2) a high propensity, for a digital platform, towards increased equality and opportunities for good health in people with diabetes.
Expected long term effects
The verification activities resulted in 8 functions / tools, which match the patients´ educational needs and wishes for the solution. Based on these, a digital mock-up (MVP) was made, an important step towards a testable prototype. There is a consensus in the health economics literature on the risk factors that affect risk of diabetic complications. This provides a basis for future quality assurance work. The verification has led us towards other customers, apart from healthcare, which has resulted in a new business and revenue model that will be verified in the next step of the project.
Approach and implementation
The project involved a series of interviews of patients and customers. In the first step, so-called "moms test" methodology were used for collection of unbiased data. The interviews with patients were reinforced with a questionnaire via social media. In the second step, our hypothetical value propositions were verified against paying customers (including healthcare). A systematic review of health economics literature was conducted and analyzed. A digital MVP was created. Our intention is to verify the MVP towards the patients, but this will be carried out after the project period.
