Important results from the project

The AI Sweden Östnoden project aimed to strengthen the AI ecosystem in Östergötland by supporting businesses, the public sector, and academia in implementing AI solutions. Through networks, AI maturity assessments, testbeds, and talent programs, the project contributed to increased expertise and transformation – for example, at Norrköping Municipality and Östgötatrafiken. A local Data Factory node and strategic initiatives have also promoted international collaboration and regional growth.

Expected long term effects

Östnoden has strengthened the AI ecosystem in Östergötland by increasing interest and knowledge about AI through events, articles, and coaching. The partnership grew by 150%, and AI maturity improved among all partners. Public actors, particularly the municipalities of Linköping and Norrköping, embraced AI. A local Data Factory was established at LiU, and new projects contributed to regional development. The project has promoted social sustainability through an inclusive approach.

Approach and implementation

As part of AI Sweden nationally, we have been promoting AI Sweden’s offerings and developing collaborations, with a particular focus on partners in Östergötland. The AI Östnoden team, with members from Linköping Science Park, Norrköping Science Park, and Linköping University, worked well together. By coaching local organizations and organizing lectures and events, the project has strengthened their ability to use AI as a key component to enhance competitiveness in a rapidly changing world.
