Important results from the project

The project has developed concepts for 3D audio guidance in mobility services and tested them in realistic environments. Three different guidance concepts have been developed and evaluated by a test group of 30 people and a reference group of visually impaired people. The work has also identified relevant system architecture, technologies and data needs for future product development. Audio concepts have been developed to improve the travel experience, e.g. in the hospitality industry.

Expected long term effects

The results provide an increased understanding of how acceptance, accessibility and safety in mobility services can be improved. They show how visual interfaces can be supplemented or replaced with more inclusive solutions and how the needs of different user groups can be taken into account. The deliverables contribute to increased safety through less visual distraction. The results also show that 3D sound can be used to enhance the journey through an integrated destination experience.

Approach and implementation

The project included seven work packages: project management, user needs and scenarios, audio interface, system architecture, technical demonstrator, end-user evaluation and knowledge dissemination. The work focused on user-centered and accessible mobility. The parties were responsible for different work packages and collaborated through regular coordination and workshops. During the course of the work, the project has also collaborated with external organizations such as universities.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
