Purpose and goal

The consortium wants to develop a marketplace and an authentication service for the billions of historic press photo originals that exist today. We´ll use the newly released Amazon QLDB ledger technology to provide an irreversible path of proof of ownership never done before, and we ll copy as much as we can from the immensely successful Sports Memorabilia marketplace in the USA.

Expected effects and result

At the end of the project we´ll deliver a fully functional online marketplace & validation services, extensively tested by consortium members. We are participating in an incredibly exciting project, which if successful, has the potential to vastly increase public interest in historic press photos, and as such increase demand for the millions of photos in our possession. By not only digitizing our entire collection but also authenticating, categorizing and grading it properly, we believe a marketplace as is planned could be just what´s needed to preserve the legacy of TT News Agency.

Planned approach and implementation

The project started on July 4, 2022 and will end on July 3, 2025. During the project we´ll develop and produce 6 different products/processes, in line with the work packages. The first 16 months of the project will be used to design and code a basic version of the Marketplace and validation services. By month 10 we´ll start pumping photos into the marketplace so that in month 16 we´ll be able to release a functioning test version of our solution, the Alpha version. For the remainder of the project we´ll drive two test versions of the solution, the Alpha version (M16-24) and Beta version (M24-36).
