Important results from the project

SAVANT has developed an automated platform to help affiliate marketers and small-scale publicists to generate a revenue on their video production. The system leverages technology from Valossa and Gavagai to understand video and place ads in the best possible media context. By integrating with the existing programmatic advertising ecosystem, we make the platform broadly available, and through a partnership agreement with YouTube we can place particular emphasis on so-called influencers.

Expected long term effects

The project has resulted in a technological platform that is ready to package and market. By automatising the manual task of embedding product links and offerings, Savant increases the effectiveness of the target channels by orders of magnitudes. Our intended pricing model, which is supported by the programmatic network, is a revenue share between the advertiser, the content owner, and Savant, based on viewer interactions generated through the platform. We expect to be fully launched before the end of the year and believe that Savant will fill and important gap on the market.

Approach and implementation

In SAVANT, we took an agile approach to development, meaning that we quickly integrated the partners systems and then iteratively improved the combined platform. Moreover, we aimed for a loose integration, where all communication between the systems were done through well-defined APIs. This approach proved successful, as it allowed to quickly have a first pilot in place, and to work in parallel with minimum interference. The main obstacle was that we underestimated the time it would take to recruit the necessary competences, and that we suffered efficiency losses from the pandemic.
