Important results from the project

The TESTOMAT Project have succeeded in balancing fast deliveries with high quality through improving test automation methods. The project has by combining advanced test technologies both optimized testing and increased the possibilities of test, by reducing test suites for faster deliveries and to save energy, and in addition made safety-critical systems even more safe by using system simulation and so called mutation testing. The project shares its knowledge by offering self-help through improvement models of test automation.

Expected long term effects

The TESTOMAT Project partners increased their efficiency in already automated test, through improved methods and tools. A balance between agile methods and high quality goals on the systems was achieved. An increased possibility to prioritize, optimize and reduce the test suites resulted in up to four times faster deliveries. (To go from manual testing to automated can give up to 80% increase in delivery speed). In general, we found more faults with new automated methods, and achieved 20% improvements. We have found new ways to test safety-critical systems making them even more safe.

Approach and implementation

The Testomat Project was led by Ericsson, and the Swedish consortium has led tre of the sex work packages - that has been known for a strong international cooperatopn between 6 countries and 34 partners. Test automation is not only about moving from manuel test to automated, but also to offer possibilities to understand and use advanced methods. Through a self test, you can get insight in your test automation maturity and get help with step-wise improvements. The project has with an active consortium impacted both research and industry on a globel level.
