Important results from the project

The project developed a go-to calibration standard applicable to AFM and KPFM, designed to be compatible with multiple Scanning Probe Microscope (SPM) brands. The calibration sample is intended to serve as a calibration standard for various SPM-derived techniques enabling us to: Calibrate workfunction and test conducting AFM. Calibrate Youngs modulus. Calibrate surface energies and wettability. Calibrate friction properties. Calibrate and test AFM-IR and TERS. Deconvolute tip shape.

Expected long term effects

The project has developed a reference standard for KPM/AFM calibration. We plan to reach out to a potential client who has expressed interest in the technology. From there, we will perform additional outreach to clients and try to make this one of our standard products where we ideally expand our product sales year by year.

Approach and implementation

The project developed a go-to calibration standard applicable to AFM and KPFM, designed to be compatible with multiple Scanning Probe Microscope (SPM) brands. The calibration sample is intended to serve as a calibration standard for various SPM-derived techniques. Our primary focus was to provide a calibration for KPFM, incorporating a grid for XYZ calibration within the same sample, along with structures and materials enabling perform a wide range of calibrations.
