Important results from the project
1) Mastered the experimental skills required in this project including isolation of BC and BrC, graphitization of CO2 and the determination of optical properties; 2) Determinations of levoglucosan and water-soluble ions, and the radiocarbon signals of BC aerosols; 3) Discussions of the manuscript writing with co-authors from China, Sweden, and Malaysia
Expected long term effects
1) A year-round dataset for the biomass burning tracer (levoglucosan, mannosan, galactosan), water-soluble ions, organic carbon, and BC in the PM2.5 aerosol samples collected in the regional site of SE Asia was obtained; 2) The radiocarbon signals and optical properties of BC aerosols were successfully measured; 3) The authors now are preparing the the manuscript on the source apportionment of BC in the regional site in SE Asia.
Approach and implementation
Determinations of dual carbon isotopes and optical properties of BC and BrC, levoglucosan, mannosan, galactosan, water-soluble ions.
