Important results from the project
The project has aimed at improving visibility and coordination among actors and between projects that in different ways demonstrate and test autonomous regional and long distance transports. The project shall contribute to increasing the number of activities in the area, support knowledge creation and dissemination and encourage that infrastructure supporting automation is realized. The project has collated a number of actors and the need for test infrastructures has been studied. A number of different proposals for further research have been made.
Expected long term effects
The project has resulted in different needs for test infrastructures, however, since quite large investments would be needed, none of the project partners have been prepared to make any further commitments. A suitable next step would instead be to map in more detail what test infrastructures are already available (publically available and/or pvivately owned) and clarify how and to what extent these can be made available for different actors that need to test autonomous systems.
Approach and implementation
There have been project meetings on a monthly basis. An interview study with 13 different actors was made aiming at achieving more knowledge about their needs. In addition to vehicle manufacturers and suppliers, actors focusing on systems development, transport buyers and services development were involved. Then, a workshop was arranged where the project parties and also representatives from the interviewed actors were invited to participate. Based on the project meetings, the interview study and the workshop, different proposals regarding test infrastructures were made.
