Important results from the project
Technical knowledge gained about gas monitoring, and in particular in Carbon Capture and Storage applications Interaction between Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Acreo, Ouro Negro, Senseair, Fiberson Mutual visits by researchers from Ouro Negro and PUC-Rio to Sweden, and From Acreo and Senseair to Brazil Use of products and technical solutions developed in Sweden and Brazil during collaboration
Expected long term effects
Fiber sensor system The development of a new hollow-core fiber filled with the gas measured and in which light at the wavelengths of interest propagates Coupling scheme that allows pumping gas into the hollow core without interfering with light coupling and analysis; Development of an optical detection system compatible with fiber monitoring; Modules for atmospheric CO2 measurement with appropriate sensitivity and response time Remote power supply, WiFi network, and data collection and software Field measurements in the cement plant and in atmosphere with controlled gas emission
Approach and implementation
Fiber sensor system required The development of a new hollow-core fiber filled with the gas to be measured and in which light at the wavelengths of interest propagated; Coupling scheme that allows to pump gas into the hollow core without preventing light coupling and analysis; Development of an optical detection system The atmospheric system demanded EOM modules for CO2 measurement with appropriate sensitivity and response time Remote power supply, establishment of a WiFi network between modules, and data collection.
