Important results from the project
In order to be able to fully utilize simulation models for geometry assurance as digital twins, both in production and in early development phases, these need to be further developed. The project has had three clear objective linked to "Digital twin for geometry assured production": 1. Increased accuracy and faster simulations 2. Better visualization capabilities to support the entire development chain 3. Specification of the digital process of the future for geometry-assured production. In summary, good goal fulfillment has been achieved in all areas.
Expected long term effects
The project has contributed to the effects: - More accurate and faster Digitial Twin - More efficient working methods - Increased cooperation between industry / academia - Increased cooperation between industrial parties - Increased international cooperation (academic and industrial) - Increased cooperation SME/OEM - Knowledge transfer between industries - Strengthening the research group and the network - Increased competence of individuals - Increased scientific excellence and international visibility - Increased competitiveness for all participating parties
Approach and implementation
The project was conducted in three work packages (WP). Chalmers carried out most of the research. The FCC provided fast algorithms in WP1 and raytracing in WP2. VCC contributed with expertise in all work packages. IKEA contributed to WP2 and WP3 in visualization and digital working methods. GKN contributed to WP1 and WP3 in advanced material modeling. RD&T Technology contributed to WP1 and WP2 with expertise in simulation. VA Automotive contributed to WP1 and WP3 with expertise in heat treatment, residual stresses and molding. Cases from industry has been successfully used.
