Important results from the project
The project objective was to develop a concept design for a digital registration system to ensure traceability, support and promote communication, and help measure the effect of redistribution of surplus food in the non-profit sector. Through market analysis, interviews and workshops with the system’s end users, and donors of surplus food we now have a system design we plan to develop, test and implement in phase 2 of the project. New project partners and new developments will be incorporated in phase 2.
Expected long term effects
The result of the project is a concept design for a digital registration system to ensure traceability, support communication and help measure the effect of food redistribution in the non-profit sector. We have also identified new areas relevant to address in phase 2, such as a digitalised, automated traceability from donating grocery stores and receiving non-profit operators, and the measurement of social and environmental effects of redistribution. New project partners will take part in phase 2.
Approach and implementation
A Combination of methods has been used; market analysis, meetings and workshops has offered a wide understanding of the field and resulted in insights and concrete solutions. Some of which we will include in phase 2. By involving users of the system from both the food industry and the non-profit sector, paired with the expertise of RISE and Stadsmissionens competence in food redistribution, we have completed a concept design ready to be developed and tested in phase 2.
