Call Upscaling for a sustainable industry

Important results from the project

The project has created a digital geometry assurance process based on linked results within four critical areas - 1) Digital requirement specification, 2) Fixture-independent measurement, 3) Automatic configuration of measuring equipment and 4) Virtual evaluation. Two industrial value chains serve as demonstrators - one from the automotive industry and one from the aerospace industry. A number of possible products with associated business models have been generated to enable dissemination of the results. The project has reached set objective from the respective work packages

Expected long term effects

The project has reached set objective in the form of specified deliveries from each work package and can contribute to an increased degree of digitalisation and automation, which in turn enables smart factories and supply chains, which are predicted to contribute to a future climate-neutral energy supply. The project enables the use of existing definitions and standards that stimulate a climate-neutral and circular economy and access to a global market. The results will further strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish industry.

Approach and implementation

The project has been carried out in six work packages - AP1 Digital requirement specification, AP2 Fixture-independent measurement, AP3 Automatic configuration of measuring equipment, AP4 Virtual evaluation, AP5 Industrial demonstrators and AP6 Business plans. The consortium has consisted of Chalmers, Volvo Cars, Saab, FCC, IPS, RD&T, LK and PW where all parties had clear roles. The project has had large meetings twice a year and meetings within each AP about once a month. The plan and implementation have worked very well with all objective achieved.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
