Important results from the project
The goal that KRY´s solution and provision of doctors should complement medical efforts has been met. More users than planned are now using the solution. The region is well on its way to working smartly and cost-effectively with digital physical care contacts. The goal that quality indications and KPIs would be developed has not been achieved as the Västerbotten region has not started working with these indicators in the organisation yet. The goal of achieving savings has been met as follows: reduced long journeys and indication of reduced inappropriate drugs as well as sampling.
Expected long term effects
A combination of digital and traditional working methods has worked beyond expectations! Increased and more flexible digital accessibility to one and the same specialist doctor has meant that it has been possible to meet care recipients and relatives more frequently than before. This has resulted in a clearly improved continuity and compliance for care recipients. The staff has received better support, been more involved and strengthened their skills. Thanks to a good collaboration between distance doctors and primary care, a reduced burden on primary care has also been achieved.
Approach and implementation
A combination of three different evaluation methods to capture the experiences and lessons learned from and from the perspectives of the different stakeholder groups: surveys (before and after the test period), in-depth interviews and focus groups. In addition, we have sought to capture experiences, insights and lessons learned from a number of other aspects, which go beyond the actual impact on healthcare and its various stakeholders. A quantitative analysis of case volumes at the distance doctor has not been possible due to a lack of data and data for this.
