Important results from the project
The goal for the BIO-X project was to verify the product as well as the installation and introduction process at international rehabilitation centers. It also included activities to prepare the company for upscaling in terms of financing, production and distribution. The study verified the patient benefit and that the product is well suited for diagnose and rehabilitation of patients with neglect. It is easy and fun to use with functional design. The evaluation was done by the occupational therapists and patients.
Expected long term effects
The deliverables and results of these studies are improved installation process and instructions to user. It includes a list of requirements to update both hard- and software before launching a product to the market, planned to Q2 2017. The CE marking process was completed, and gave structure and routines to the internal work. IPR evaluation was done and decision taken to focus on trademarks and business secretes. Health economy strategy has been initiated. A memorandum for investors is close to final, and several meetings with potential investors and business angles have taken place.
Approach and implementation
The project delivered according to plan. It is has been difficult to estimate the number of stroke patients with neglect that will be enrolled at each rehabilitation centre, even though the total number is satisfactory. The input from patients and health care professionals cannot be overestimated, and will be valuable for the coming commercialisation process. The use of experienced consultants for CE marking was important for the approved classification as well as the routines in the company. Participation at conferences have given good contacts and a good overview of competitors.
