Important results from the project
Diabetes is today an epidemy in the developing countries Most plausible reason is change of Lifestyle (food habits, stressful life etc...) Secondary complications exists such as Neuropathy that might give blindness, slowly healing wounds and at the worst amputation of the lower limbs. Before a cure is found it is of utmost importance to find fast and reliable methods for early detection of neuropathy
Expected long term effects
Corpus, a Swedish R&D company active in Med Tech has developed a product for objective measurement of neuropathy and is now looking for a commercial- as well as a clinical partner for investigating larger patients groups.
Approach and implementation
A Swedish/Chinese consortium of four parties will be formed; two academic (Endocrinology clinics) and two business related companies. The scope of the study will be to measure and compare the two countries results in terms of separation and classification of three categories of patients:1) Healthy2) Diabetes without symptoms of Neuropathy3) Diabetes with serious symptoms of Neuropathy
