Important results from the project

Sownder has developed an interactive user interface (GUI) that illustrates the potential and functionality of the decision support in an illustrative way. This interface shows an easy-to-understand way of how to minimise turnover time between two consecutive surgeries while maximising the utilisation rate of the surgery room and staff. Sownder has further developed an optimisation model for processes that schedule surgeries and staff so that production can be increased by 30%, alternatively production can be maintained with the introduction of a 6-hour working day.

Expected long term effects

The effects of the tool are that operations and staff planning are synchronised in the most optimal way possible, with the ability to evaluate in real time. Personnel planning surgeries now get a data-based tool that facilitates and streamlines scheduling. The ability to monitor cost-effectiveness in real-time by calculating staff resources in relation to production is accompanied by quick follow-up.

Approach and implementation

June / July: Optimization of tools, adjustment of model to solver July / August: Move operations in a schematic draft by drag-and-drop functionality, Update GUI in javascript, Refresh and customize backend August / September: Support for importing staff schedule, Add import feature in backend, Development of demonstration tool. September / October: Preparing for individual schedule in smart phone, Import function in backend, Development of demonstration tool.. Project meetings have been conducted continuously
