Important results from the project
The project´s aim was to build competence around LiDAR. To understand how the technology works, but also to build competence in handling the test equipment used in daily testing and to be able to handle the data that is generated.
Expected long term effects
The project has contributed to increased competence at AstaZero regarding LIDAR as a vehicle sensor and also as a measurment equipment. Processes and methods for using LIDAR and handling the collected data have been established and also used eg in the FFI project Digitalt AstaZero (dnr 2018-02701) where sections at the proving ground have been scanned. LIDAR can now be considered an established equipment at AstaZero.
Approach and implementation
Literature studies and meetings with industry have given good knowledge of how LiDAR and measurement systems based on LiDAR work. In order to build competence around the use, a number of tests have been carried out and procedures for handling the equipment have been developed. Analyzes of data have been made and scripts have been developed to automate the analysis.
