Important results from the project
The main objective of the project was to develop a national database for clinical data from veterinary practices in Sweden. In summary, the project has been successful. The technical development that was performed within the project has resulted in solutions that enables a safe transfer and anonymization of clinical data from practices using any of the practice management systems Trofast or Provet Cloud to Naveda. We hope that Naveda will be operating by the end of 2018 and that more practice management systems will start to develop solutions to make them compatible with Naveda.
Expected long term effects
The project has resulted in a server architecture and a database structure for Naveda. The necessary technical solutions for a secure transfer and anonymization of clinical data have been developed and are ready to be used. The results of the comprehensive legal review show that there are no legal barriers to handling clinical data in Naveda. The proposal from the project is that Naveda will be managed by a foundation. Decisions on this matter will be taken during the spring 2018. The effects of Naveda can be evaluated only after the database has been in operation for a few years.
Approach and implementation
During the first part of the project agreements were established regarding the necessary use of clinical data for the development work. Possibilities for the future management of Naveda were investigated early in the project. The development work has been carried out at SVA in cooperation with the project partner SAVSNET. The project has also collaborated with Provet Cloud. A comprehensive legal review was conducted on behalf of the project to investigate whether there is legal support for Naveda. Communication material about Naveda were developed and used on several occasions.
