Important results from the project

To provide a revised and improved course in medical technology innovation for participants from industry, academia and county councils, with an increased number of course participants (35 in comparison to 20 the previous year). We reached the goal of 35 course participants. They rated the course highly (4.4 out of 5 possible) and the rating of the course website and its content increased to 4.2 compared with last year´s 3.3.

Expected long term effects

The participants of the innovation course are expected to increase their knowledge about the innovation process and thereby their possibility of successfully completing innovative medtech projects. These projects are also expected to be increasingly need/demand driven, rather than focusing on technology push. Another expected effect is the establishment of new contacts among both course participants and lecturers, for further collaborations and support. Many participants have indicated that the networking was an important part of the course.

Approach and implementation

The course structure has been discussed with the participants. Everyone agreed that they appreciate that the course is concentrated (two sessions within one month) instead of spread out over a longer time. Also, the response to using two different geographical locations has been positive, since this encouraged participants and teachers from all of Sweden to participate. The invited lecturers who hold inspiring expert speeches has been appreciated. An improvement suggestion is to shorten the lectures a bit, to give room for more structured group exercises and discussions.
