Important results from the project

Many of the million program suburbs has a weak social and physical infrastructure in the public spaces in the form of accessible and attractive meeting places which impedes local development and integration. A concept has been developed as a solution to this, where local businesses/NGO:s develops and manages well designed physical and digital meeting places as well as deliver estate services. A model has been created which covers the entire process and value chain from design, delivery, distribution and sales, in order to ensure long term ecological, economical and social development

Expected long term effects

The project has resulted in a number of models and development plans for how well designed meeting places in public spaces can be created, digitized and managed. The local businesses/NGO:s create local jobs, commitment for the area and strengthens the local economy, culture and community. The model and the network, including estate and construction companies, research as well as civil society, secures ecologically sustainable and social production linked to the development of the local community, is expected to contribute to job creation, innovative products and reduced exclusion

Approach and implementation

A steering group led the project. Interviews, larger workshops, coordination meetings and information sessions with residents, local associations, property owners, construction companies, industry representatives and local stakeholders have been conducted. Adapting to partners, strategies and plans have been ongoing with the project objectives in focus, which ultimately affected the results positively. In the closing phase, great emphasis has been placed on realistic implementation plans for the realization together with new strategic players, ensuring future success.
