Important results from the project
The aim of the initiation phase was to develop ideas and projects on how to provide sustainable passenger and freight mobility in neighborhoods with limited room for vehicles and high standards of sustainable living. This has been fulfilled as the project consortium has developed a solution which contains an integrated process for passenger and freight transport in the urban development process as well as four innovative partial solutions, which together form a space-efficient and sustainable transport system for dense cities.
Expected long term effects
The impact goals that the project addresses is primarily a contribution to sustainable growth, where the densification of cities can be made significantly more sustainable, when transport is involved earlier in the planning process. The project´s initial phase has been conducted in parallel with the detailed planning process for ´Frihamnen´ in Gothenburg, and transport matters has thus received more attention, much thanks to DenCity, and we can hence already see effects of the project.
Approach and implementation
The initiation phase has to a large extent followed the planned process stated in the application. The project idea has been developed further through project meetings, the large workshops, development of the project partnership, pre-studies and meetings with the reference-group. Furthermore, the cooperation between the participating actors has been strengthened.
