Important results from the project
The DenCity system and its integrated solutions address to solve the life puzzle for people who live and work in cities, through effective and sustainable solutions. This with regards to space, time and resources, but also economically, socially and environmentally. With a system perspective, attractive cities can be created. In dense cities or districts with a more limited space in the street environment, transport flows need to coexist with people who live in the city. This can create points of conflict that DenCity can help to resolve.
Expected long term effects
DenCity has created a number of interesting # benefits that benefit the city´s residents, such as: # Zero Emission Logistics: cleaner and quieter deliveries with E-trucks. # Real estate Deliveries and Sharing Services: parcel boxes for e-commerce close to the customer # Mobility broker: support residents to find customized mobility solutions # Consolidated Deliveries: coordinated "last mile" delivery to companies / office hotels in dense cities incl return waste management # Transport on urban waterways: floating recycling centers to reduce car dependence in the city
Approach and implementation
There is an increased demand for individually adapted transport solutions and new consumer habits, which has, among other things, resulted in a fragmentation of transport flows. DenCity has targeted the city´s needs through a handful of work packages whose task has been to find surface-efficient, smart solutions that integrate freight, waste and passenger transport in one system. A total of 34 parties from business, society and academia have contributed with resources and unique know how, to explore and demonstrate solutions in dense cities.
