Reference number
Coordinator RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 600 000
Project duration October 2021 - December 2022
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The project has modified a vehicle for road operation including equipment for automation and construction a new brush model and brine spreader, tailored to the vehicle. In Stockholm, the project has demonstrated an early version of automated road operations and, in cooperation and reporting, focused on the central position of road operations in the future´s equal, safe and climate-efficient transport system.

Expected long term effects

- Demonstration showing the possibility of using a smaller "autonomous" machine to clear snow surfaces where larger machines cannot reach and to be able to clear snow more often. - Dialogue with the Swedish Transport Agency shows that the process for permits is delineated and defined. - Identification of efficiency-enhancing factors in the environment and systems points to the surrounding driver´s behavior and the condition of the vehicles, the operation procurement structure and the design of the infrastructure as important circumstances to work on.
