Important results from the project

The purpose of the project was to develop an AI-driven education platfrom for individuals that are studying Chinese as a second language. The project goals were to evaluate the first mobile application, build long-term partnerships in Taiwan / China, and collect data from users to create accurate models to create a personal learning experience. All targets were met during the project with exception that that the research was only conducted in Taiwan due to limited movment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Expected long term effects

A total of 87 students and five teachers participated in questionnaires, interviews, and user tests. The application has been developed during three test rounds at universities and schools where the results have been used to develop the next version of the application and to evaluate the customer´s willingess to pay. Two collaborations have been established in Taiwan consisting of a university and a private school that provides education in Chinese langauge.

Approach and implementation

To ensure that each iteration of the prototype meets the needs of students and teachers, we have conducted market research and created collaborations where we actively engaged our future users in the development process to get continuous feedback on our application and contents. Through the collaborations we have established during the project period, have we already started to develop the next version of the application and have been able to create improved algorithms.
