Important results from the project
A European consortium was established, and we submitted a competitive proposal for the Horizon Europe 2-stage call "Personalised prevention of non-communicable diseases - addressing areas of unmet needs using multiple data sources." Our proposal aims to develop, integrate, and test personalized approaches to optimize a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, to ensure effective long-term weight management and reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases.
Expected long term effects
An application entitled "MAIntainWeight AI personalized weight maintenance support for disease prevention and health" was submitted to Horizon Europe´s 2-stage call "Personalised prevention of non-communicable diseases - addressing areas of unmet needs using multiple data sources". The consortium has 17 partners from 7 European countries and is coordinated by Prof. Rikard Landberg, Chalmers University of Technology. The proposal was for 12 million euros over 72 months. Decision regarding submission for Stage 2 of the call is expected 2023/2024.
Approach and implementation
The coordinator and project manager wrote the application based on the collective efforts and input of the consortium. An early-stage workshop, held both physically and digitally, fostered new ideas and a close collaboration. Additional partners were incorporated to broaden expertise and strengthen the consortium. Support from Vinnova was pivotal in hiring a part-time project manager for the purpose of Stage 1 of the application. We also sought assistance from the university´s Grants office with EU expertise.
