Important results from the project
The CPS-agenda´s original goals were to: 1. Establish a national vision, goals and needs for Embedded systems/Cyberphysical systems. 2. Develop and suggest activities and co-operation forms across companies and universities. ICES decided together with the industrial partners to support two different agendas in the actual work. The software agenda is presently being finalized. The ICT-initiative ´All connected´ har resulted in an agenda. Our opinion overall is that the coming software agenda will fulfill the original goals of the CPS-agenda.
Expected long term effects
Software connected to embedded and cyber-physical systems is of strategic relevance for Swedish industry in a number of domains (such as automation, automotive, telecom and Life Science) and give unforeseen possibilities of innovation. This area is an area of strength for Sweden both industrially and academically, but at the same time fragmented in domains and disciplines. It is therefore important with a focused effort. The agenda work has been a first step in this direction, and contributed to a dialogue with many interested parties.
Approach and implementation
The Cyber Physical Systems´ agenda was initiated by ICES, a cross-domain networking centre within Embedded Systems (www.ices.kth.se). The participating companies share the challenges to handle competence supply and the increasing product complexity which follows from software and networks closely integrated with physical products. After discussion with other agendas and organizations ICES decided to support Swedsofts software agenda and the ICT-initiative ´All connected´. ICES has actively gathered information from industry and contributed in the writing of the agendas.
