Important results from the project
The goal of this project was to update Agrisera product portfolio with 100 new antibodies, which can contribute to increase understanding of the process of plant reaction to global warming and give a chance to produce plants which can better withstand changed weather conditions. Agrisera portfolio is lacking products in the areas of intensive research like hormone signaling, stress (salt, high temperature, draught) and pathogen defence. The work was initiated with help of Vinnova funding and ca. 50 products are currently in the pipe-line with few already on the market.
Expected long term effects
Due to a fact that production cycle takes ca. 8-10 months, only few products are already available. Therefore it is too early to make any conclusions about impacts on Agrisera sales which this project has. Many research laboratories world-wide are interested to participate in testing.
Approach and implementation
First stage of this project was an in-depth bioinformatic analysis, which was a base to further investigation of possible targets for antibody development. Production cycle includes:1) detailed bioinformatics study; 2) peptide production and conjugation; 3) immunization, purification and administration; 4) testing with contribution from laboratories world-wide. Validation of each product is carefully done using appropriate controls.
