Important results from the project

The project´s aim was to initiate a gathering of forces and be an innovation engine for the suburbs´ public spaces with a summary of theory and development of practice on how social, cultural and economic systems can work together for culture as a capacity-building force. The project is summarized in a report of just over 100 pages. In this, a model and practice for culturally driven site development is presented based on what has emerged in the project. Results have been reported at two webinars with about 200 participants. The project´s aim and objective can hereby be considered achieved.

Expected long term effects

The project´s objective to initiate a gathering of forces and act as innovation engine for the development of the suburbs´ public spaces can be considered fulfilled through the debate and discussions the project has given rise to so far. However, we expect the large effect in that part will follow on the final report and when the method described are tested in full scale. The ambition to start a pilot already within the framework of the project could not be realized with reference to Corona restrictions. However, project partners have expressed interest in starting pilots in autumn of 2020.

Approach and implementation

Theory and knowledge about culture as a system-wide and capacity-building force have been summarized by researchers. In indepth interviews with representatives of cultural life, civil society, municipality, property owners, etc, theory and practice have been combined and approaches from our project description been tested. International references has been taken in. Our expertise from community producers and practicians has been used as a reference group. The project has been pushed towards arousing interest in practical tests with our report as inspiration and basis.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
