Important results from the project
The ambition with the project expansion was to enable a closer connection to WARA-PS and their possibilities for simulation and validation of project results in a realistic environment together with other project, solutions and technologies, in several different domains. This has been fulfilled by the fact that we have: 1) Implemented and integrated a planning function that uses the solutions obtained in the project. 2) Validated this function through a closer collaboration with WARA-PS´s demo facilities, which enabled simulation and validation in the offered environment.
Expected long term effects
Results and expected effects: 1. Study of the use of probability maps in combination with search time optimization algorithms where the use of probability maps has been shown to be an effective way to optimize search times, provided that accurate probability maps are available. 2. A multi-agent planning system that uses the solutions obtained in (1) to enable swarm-like operations for drones. 3. Evaluation of our planning system in a realistic environment, which enabled simulation and validation in the environment that WARA-PS offers.
Approach and implementation
The research aims to develop, integrate and validate a planning system for drone-based search and rescue missions. The work was divided into the following phases: 1. Problem definition Scenario adaptation for integration into WARA-PS´s system and demo operations. 2. Feasibility study/analysis of planning algorithms 3. Development and integration of planning and execution function based on (1) and (2) 4. Simulation, testing and evaluation of (3) in realistic environment 5. Knowledge dissemination and reporting
