Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to form a competence hub within the subject area of Design Methods for electronic systems. The competence hub would systematically map and report Swedish and international competencies, lab resources and results such as components, tools, and hardware platforms, which are used in Design of electronic systems.
Expected long term effects
Correct operation of electronic systems requires a holistic approach w here no component can be optimized completely independent of the others. To design the future system thus requires a broad expertise that takes the limitations of the components and Design Methods into account. This can be facilitated by strategic relationships with partners in various areas. The has given an overview of domestic and international stakeholders with expertise in Design Methods, as well as resulted in different thesis projects, collaborations and form one EU-project (VALU3S).
Approach and implementation
A key to successful collaborations between industry and university is to understand the different actors´ incentives. The goal of the project is to list actors working in the field of design methods for electronics, and provide possible entry points for cooperation and funding. This includes research collaborations and calls on national and European level. On the educational side, a cooperation has been established with the KTH Kista MentorSpace to give students more entrepreneurial possibilities and contacts with Industry for further developing various ideas for products.
