Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to identify the requirements and needs with respect to security for Internet of Things within critical infrastructure. The goal was to organize a number of workshops to establish contact channels with actors within Swedish industry, and to summarise the identified requirements in a report. Three internal workshops and one open workshop were held by organisers of the project. In addition, 14 interviews with representatives from relevant industry sectors were carried out. A final report summarises results from interviews and student theses performed.
Expected long term effects
A popular science presentation on the project topics was given to 30-40 participants. Three Master thesis projects were carried out within the project. The information security was promoted as a focus within topics for an external workshop within the area of networked autonomous vehicles. A proposal to SSF was created based on contacts established as a result of this project. A network of stakeholders within critical infrastructure has been established, which can potentially be useful in a newly established research centre on Resilient Information and Control Systems (RICS).
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out through four main activities: The workshops that were intended for establishing contacts, collecting, and disseminating knowledge; Interviews to obtain a deeper understanding of the actors´ perspectives; Student projects to study the market potential and to test new technical solutions; Literature study to establish the research state-of-art. Industry paricipants have shown a great deal of interest but have nonetheless been forced to prioritise their day-to-day activities.
