Important results from the project
The aim of the residency was to explore basic artistic possibilities and challenges in the creative use of code and different types of software as digital tools in the design of clothing and fashion. The goal was to create a platform to try and develop opportunities for creative coding in clothing and fashion design by finding points of contact in processes and synergies in shared perspectives. The platform has functioned as an open space where several models have been developed for progressive artistic development of fashion design and body based expressions.
Expected long term effects
Several of the models demonstrate new opportunities for renewal of fashion design and clothing through the introduction of new technology and new working methods. The models that have been found and tested can partly contribute to methods for professional development of fashion design and adjacent artistic areas, and partly to new artistic research methods. The models can also be used and adapted to teaching situations. The project has opened up for new questions, forms of collaboration and possible applications of the results in future work.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out through collaborative research and development of actors with expertise from the different areas. Innovation opportunities have been explored in lab and studio environments through experiments, practical examples and workshops, as well as through fieldwork, carried out in different environments and situations and through different activities. Models and methods have been explored in research and development projects. Results have been introduced in education and have started to be adapted for longer modules at advanced and doctoral level.
