Creation of knowledge on Open Data at existing businesses and nonprofit organizations not directly linked to ICT

Important results from the project

The project has performed presentations and arranged meetings reagarding open data for A section of Rotary The Leftist party Charirman and vice chairman of all political committees in the municipality Ekonomists and information officers The boards of two local association for business leaders Articles in printed and web based personell newspaper head ov developmen at the local newspaper A virtual network has been created Projektet har inte skapat några konkreta projektidéer

Expected long term effects

Approximately 60 people including politicians and officials have participated in presentations on open data. Approximately 25 people from the business community has also participated in these presentations. Additional presentations will be held in the new year at a so-called ´Growth breakfast´. The konowledge basis for participation in the project on open data has improved among both businesses and municipal organizations. We expect that the demand for data will increase. The municipality has started to organize their handling of how publication of open data should be done.

Approach and implementation

The difficulties in attracting participation in events related to something that for most people is unknown was underestimated. An high profiled lecturer or a clear link to the later implementation project in which the target group can participate and earn money might have been able to counteract this. But it is perhaps so that a lot of people have to hear the same message several times over a period of time before the take the information to heart and start using it their creative process.
