Funding from Vinnova SEK 2 534 500
Project duration November 2024 - December 2025
Status Ongoing
Venture Transport and mobility services - FFI
Call Transport and mobility services - FFI – autumn 2024

Purpose and goal

Project CoTWIN will demonstrate a secure digital infrastructure pilot for data sharing, combining Ericsson´s and Telia´s telecom infrastructure capabilities with data collected from Volvo trucks and the latest secure data sharing technology from CanaryBit. The project will also explore new business models for real-time data monetization, and expose sanitized vehicle data to third parties on FRAND terms, as well as find solutions to improve resource utilization for the City of Gothenburg.

Expected effects and result

Project CoTWIN addresses FFI´s third impact objective and helps it contribute to the development of competence, infrastructure and business models in the road transport system. By combining expertise in telecom infrastructure and operations, transport solutions and cyber security, we will create a digital infrastructure solution for sharing vehicle and transport infrastructure data. This will support future AI-based solutions that can optimize transport.

Planned approach and implementation

The project consists of 6 work packages plus a coordination activity that runs throughout the project: Infrastructure and network API access, data & simulation model for pilot, data security & compliance, potential business models, hackathon, dissemination. The project activities run for 12 months, with an early focus on the technical activities. Later, the project will focus on business models, hackathons and dissemination of the results.
