Important results from the project
The project achieved most of the objectives, and thus produced the results we planned for. On the research side, we were able to present results from experiments that suggested that central experiments worked. On the community integration side, we succeeded in several collaborations and awareness-raising activities, both in Stockholm but also in Sweden. During the Jamboree in Paris, the team’s efforts were rewarded with a gold medal.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to contribute to research on guanine synthesis, including the production of a BioBrick that can affect its function. In addition, the project has contributed to the development of synthetic biology in general. For example, we have produced materials and simplified processes for future iGEM teams in both Stockholm and Sweden.
Approach and implementation
The project had five collaborative working groups: wet lab, computer lab, finance, media and community interaction. At the beginning of the year, the project idea was brainstormed, after which the five groups carried out their respective work during the spring, summer and autumn of 2024. The overall plan was followed, with minor adjustments as needed.
