Important results from the project

The study provided insights in the quantity of goods handled by The University of Gothenburg and the total share suitable for coordinated distribution of goods. The quantity of goods is not comparable to the quantity of goods handled in the schemes that have been implemented in municipalities in Sweden. The potential for saving both time, money and CO2-emissions are therefore relatively low. The study suggests a further analysis of the purchase and procurement process to make this more unified.

Expected long term effects

The study have given answers and insights into the conditions and potential for coordinated distribution of goods at The University of Gothenburg and can as such provide a bench-mark to future studies. The study was the first of its kind in Sweden and one of the first in Europe and this furthers the combined knowledge in the field.

Approach and implementation

The study was made by a consultant together with a project group from the university. The consultant was an expert who had made several studies within the field before and therefore provided an well established method. The study was delivered on time but further actions such as workshops etc was planned and carried out in order to spread the results of the study.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
