Important results from the project
The project developed and pilot-tested a new course model for work-integrated education, based on a development process carried out in close collaboration between academia and industry. Students worked in interdisciplinary teams on innovation challenges. The project achieved its goals, and collaboration with Södra and IKEA resulted in new prototypes and concepts. A course concept for professionals was also developed to link with the student course in future collaborative education.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to strengthen long-term collaboration between academia and industry through an established model for work-integrated education. The model can support regional skills supply by providing students, particularly international students, with clearer links to companies towards the end of their studies. For companies, it creates structured opportunities for recurring competence development and innovation in collaboration with the university.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out successfully. The course model was developed in close collaboration between the university and partner companies and pilot-tested in autumn 2025. The project period was extended within the existing budget to enable the pilot without affecting the project’s objectives. Students were recruited through an application process and worked in interdisciplinary teams on innovation challenges. Collaboration functioned well and activities were delivered on schedule.
