Important results from the project

An application for an EU-Project, with RISE as coordinating partner, aiming at supporting the implementation of the SET-plan within the area of Bioenergy and Renewable Fuels for Transport has been submitted. The funding from Vinnova had the purpose of building network and consortia for a high quality application in this, for Sweden highly strategic, area This objective has been fulfilled by an application that includes strategic actions to deal with financial issues, the roll of the industry, innovation processes, partnerships and support to the EU Commission.

Expected long term effects

The EU application concerns a project that will support all EU actors in the implementation of the SET-plan within bioenergy and renewable transportation fuels. Thus, the result may contribute to the vital supply of fossil free energy to sustainable energy and transportation sectors. Within this project a consortium, called SET4BIO, with participants from Sweden, Finland, Norway, Germany, Spain and Italy, was developed and the approach was anchored broadly with a range of actors. As a result, the chance of a positive outcome of the application should have increased substantially.

Approach and implementation

The project has included implementation of a number of planning meetings within the consortium, preparations for the forming of a EU-wide working Group for the area (IWG8) through participation in meetings with the EU Commission and JRC, and network development through Contacts with about 20 organisations and companies within the area, which together represents a large share of the related industry.
