Important results from the project

The purpose of installing Miljökontakten was to be able to regulate heating, ventilation and power supply when the door is locked from the outside and no one is in the apartment. The goal of the investment was to put the product into production, carry out a rigorous beta test in student apartments, demonstrate energy savings and then offer the product to the market. The goal has been fulfilled in that the product has now been tested and proven to work as intended, can be produced and is available to offer the market via our website

Expected long term effects

The result was an energy saving of 10.95% during the period June to November. The energy savings are expected to be even higher over a twelve-month period, considering that the energy savings are greater when it is cold outside.

Approach and implementation

We had a good plan for our project but suffered from various delays that had to do with the casting tool being manufactured in China and the delivery times were longer than we had estimated. We also needed to cast a test run to ensure the tooling worked as intended and that added extra time to the schedule. The delays meant that the installation was only done in June and that was probably a good thing because many of the student apartments were already empty by the end of the term and that made the installation considerably easier.
