Purpose and goal

The overall aim of the project is to contribute with knowledge for reduced environmental impact from the construction and civil engineering process, and to contribute to the next generation of advanced digital systems that enable competitive, efficient and reliable construction and civil engineering operations. The goal of the project is to define and empirically evaluate a method of an interoperable and feedback digital system, with the aim of operationally coordinating and optimizing the plant process.

Expected effects and result

The definition of an enabling method of a feedback system for the purpose of operationally coordinating, optimizing, and controlling the construction process. A system architecture and interoperable information model for reliable optimization and collaboration. Demonstration and evaluation of the developed methodology in a relevant real construction process. Presentation of quantified benefits and potential for system efficiency with digital innovation and information sharing.

Planned approach and implementation

The project intends to develop and validate a system concept by collecting relevant data from different machines, vehicles and operations to create context information / digital twins of the process. The project will use the context information to identify, develop and quantify the benefits of relevant use cases. Furthermore, data and operations will be used to validate relevant solutions of a feedback and digital control and coordination system.
