Important results from the project
There is a great deal of interest in issues connected to the design of a control and steering system for an "Enery Hub". System integration projects of that type are costly, difficult and risky. Climate issues connected to the aviation fuel supply have a large focus, while climate issues connected to the operation of airport operations and their role as a logistics hub is often given less attention in strategic policy documents.
Expected long term effects
In order to move forward, extensive design and integration work is required, which is preferably carried out in stages. A more extensive project´s focus may include systems for steering and controlling the energy supply of all logistics and transport systems to and from and at airports. In the project, five steps for pilots have been defined. These steps take advantage of the different conditions that Aruba and Arlanda provide.
Approach and implementation
The main part of the project is based on ongoing initiatives, interviews and meetings from relevant actors within airport operations and power supply systems. Swedavia has shown great interest as the direction of the project coincides well with their future plans. Through the project´s international network, a collaboration with Aruba Airport has developed, which has proven to be a good complement.
