Important results from the project

During the project, we have developed advanced methods for different types of medical image processing in neuroradiology. To ensure that the methods are robust and reliable, we have collected image data from different hospitals and vendors, and to make the methods available to clinical experts such as radiologists, we have developed a user interface, and also worked towards integrating the methods into the hospital´s PACS -system.

Expected long term effects

Methods developed in the project have performed very well in the quantification of glioblastoma and intracranial aneurysms. We have collected a database consisting of image data with different characteristics. We expect that these achievements will have a long-term effect on continued method development. The user interface that has been developed facilitates the use of new methods for medical applications. The collaboration with the group in India has been deepened.

Approach and implementation

The setup for the project worked well. We followed the timeplan to a large extent. The funding was a bit unbalanced (two PhD students were hired in India and a PostDoc was hired in Sweden), but it has not been a problem since throughout the project we have had close contact between the Swedish and the Indian groups. We had to cancel planned workshops due to the pandemic, but we were able to meet physically a few times - a workshop with everyone involved was held in Uppsala in the spring of 2023.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
