Important results from the project

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The aim of the project was to develop and experimentally evaluate a new medical device enabling fine-needle biopsy from the sentinel node, the lymph node that drains from the primary tumor and provides metastatic status. The project included development of hard- and software and experimental measurements. The aim was to evaluate usability, precision and accuracy. The project has delivered results in the form of a mechanically functional, ergonomic and useful product with software for tissue visualization, accurate orientation and localization of SN.

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** In the project, we have successfully designed and constructed a mechanically functioning, ergonomic and useful medical device. Results from an experimental evaluation have shown an accuracy and precision that is high enough to proceed with the planning of a clinical evaluation. The product has potential to lead to a radical change in that surgical intervention can be replaced by targeted fine needle biopsy. Work with continued optimization regarding the gamma probe is ongoing.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** To implement the project, the following activities have been carried out: 1. CAD modeling of product parts 2. 3D printing of product parts and assembly 3. Development of graphical user interface for visualization and positioning 4. Implementation of an IMU to ensure correct orientation of the product 5. Initial tests and iterative adjustment of the product 6. Construction of phantom 7. Experimental measurements 8. Results report and plan for further development 9. Risk analysis started, development of a business plan has been initiated
