Important results from the project

The purpose of the project was to develop a digital course offering, focusing on collaborative learning and multisensory methods hence transferring the multifaceted museum experience to a digital era. The aim was to develop two courses: develop methods and test collaborative learning and multisensorial elements with participants in an iterative process, conduct a pilot and finalize a course offering and spread the innovation to others. We did exactly this and the courses, “Storytelling genom bilder” and “Fem ögonblick som förändrade fotohistorien” ran digitally on Zoom.

Expected long term effects

Participants perceived the methods as very innovative and were very engaged. Multisensory exercises, e.g.,”choose a song that captures your reading of this photo” or “capture this perfume in an abstract photo” were immensely popular. The collaborative exercises were also well-received, e.g., readings of each other’s photos, or roleplaying an art historic battle. The participants were very happy with the courses and created a lot of new friendships. The interest in the methods have been considerable, both from the museum sector but also from the education and communications sector.

Approach and implementation

We developed two collaborative multisensory digital courses, “Storytelling genom bilder” och “Fem ögonblick som förändrade fotohistorien”, and conducted these with participants (50 and 18, respectively). The methods were developed in light of considerable research and intelligence, teaching experience, tests and focus groups. When the courses finally ran, we continuously evaluated the methods and asked for feedback on all exercises. The course was given on Zoom and all participants received something physical by mail (a perfume and a poem or a book).
